Stroud Valleys Running Club has been founded on the basic principles of support, encouragement and improvement. Many members haven't been running that long, still remembering what it was like to be new to running and being at the back! However, within the existing group we have completed marathons, half marathons and many 10k races - experiences we're very eager to help others benefit from!
SVRC was set up specifically to help recreational runners who run at between 9 - 11 minute miles,
who want to improve, and therefore enjoy, their running more. It is this group of runners who will benefit greatly from our training schedule.
We are a mixed ability group and welcome both male and female runners, aged 24 and over.
We all have our own running goals, and, where possible, we try to incorporate these goals into our training plans. Want to run further, faster, longer? We'll try and help you achieve it!
Sessions are supervised/led by a UKA qualified Running Fitness Coach and Leaders who together have several years coaching and running experience. Each session is designed to gradually increase the training load, whilst also taking account of the runner's current capabilities.

'I have never been very sporty and certainly never enjoyed any type of exercise but I started through a beginners route literally doing a minute at a time. Within 6 months I had done my first ever 10k and in just under a year my first half marathon, I have now even done a marathon which I never believed I could do! I have also managed to improve my speed taking my average from 13 min/mile to a comfortable 10.5 min/mile & lost weight without trying but training regularly. I am amazed at what can be achieved with some determination, a fantastic and knowledgable coach and supportive people! Stroud Valleys club has everything you could need with great people who genuinely want the best for each other. All abilities are welcomed and nobody is left behind or made to feel uncomfortable. I've been running for 10 years and have never ran with a club before, thinking I preferred solitary running to being with a group. I went out with Stroud Valleys for the first time tonight because it was dark and I didn't want to be out on my own - and I loved it! A huge thank you to Steve for looking after me at the back. I'd recommend this club to anyone.
